Thabi Moyo
New Media

Thabi Moyo currently works with the National Black Programming Consortium and serves as the New Media Institute and Public Media Corps Assistant Director. The New
Media Institute is a training program that shares knowledge about new media platforms, develops content and alternative ways of distributing that content. The Public Media
Corps (PMC) will impact 3 million Americans over 2 years in 15+ markets by training 200 people to link persistently underserved communities to broadband technologies via
public media. She handles all logistical planning, database and timeline management for the two programs. She comes from a background of film production, event
coordination and cultural arts management and programming. She is a native of Jackson, Mississippi and holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in film with a minor concentration in education from Howard University.
Thabi left Jackson in 2008, soon after wrapping on the highly acclaimed feature documentary, Prom Night in Mississippi. She was Associate Producer and researcher on the film. Before PNIM, she worked as Crossroads Film Society coordinator, as a photojournalist for the award-winning alternative newsweekly Jackson Free Press, with the Canton Convention and Visitors Bureau’s cultural arts programs, and with many community small groups and organizations. Most recently Thabi has begun consulting with community-based organization and small businesses on how to incorporate new media tools and platforms into their community outreach. She is currently working with Tickles.tv and D. L. Dykes Foundation. Thabi is an advocate for diversity and can often be found in discourse or microblogging about the issue.
