Advisory Board
Our renowned advisory board is recognized across the world for their contributions to Christian thinking.
The Faith and Reason Advisory Board comprises nine imminent scholars, writers and teachers who initially appeared in the first Faith and Reason television programs.
The Board was originally organized to guide the D. L. Dykes Foundation in the selection of themes and topics for Faith and Reason programming. Since its inception, the Board has provided links to other prominent scholars and teachers and a wide variety of learning opportunities.

Marcus Borg
Nationally known Jesus scholar and Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion and Culture at Oregon State University. Lecturer, author, and recognized as an outstanding educator, the New York Times calls Borg "a leading figure among the new generation of Jesus scholars."
Walter Brueggemann
A prolific writer and lecturer, he is Professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. He is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and a contributing editor of The Christian Century.
Sister Joan Chittister
A social psychologist, international lecturer, and author of over twenty books, she is a member of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, Pennsylvania, and executive director of Benetvision: A Resource and Research Center for Contemporary Spirituality.
John Dominic Crossan
A familiar television face, he is professor emeritus of Biblical Studies at DePaul University. He is a co-founder of the Jesus Seminar and author of over a dozen books on the historical Jesus.
A. J. Levine
Professor of New Testament Studies and Director of the Carpenter Program in Religion, Gender and Sexuality at the Vanderbilt University Divinity School . An author and lecturer, she is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Catholic Biblical Association.
William Mallard
A widely respected teacher, lecturer, author, and noted Augustine scholar, he is former professor of Church History at the Candler School of Theology at Atlanta's Emory University.
Tex Sample
Tex Sample, former cab driver, laborer, and oil field roustabout, is Coordinator of the Network for the Study of U.S. Lifestyles and lives in Goodyear, Arizona. He is a freelance lecturer, workshop leader and consultant with church, community, governmental, and business organizations.
Phyllis Tickle
Contributing Editor in Religion for Publishers Weekly, the international journal of the book publishing industry, she is the author of two dozen books. She is recipient of the Mays Award, one of the book industry's most prestigious awards for lifetime achievement in writing and publishing.
