Biographical Information

Walter BrueggemannWalter Brueggemann is William Marcellus McPheeters Professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. Brueggemann is a widely known biblical scholar who is also a popular author and lecturer. Among many, his books include, The Vitality of Old Testament Traditions , (1975), The Prophetic Imagination (1978), Old Testament Theology: Essays on Structure, Theme and Text (1992) , Texts Under Negotiation: The Bible and Postmodern Imagination (1993). Dr. Brueggeman is interested in interpretive issues that lie behind efforts at Old Testament theology. This includes the relations of the Old Testament to the Christiasn canon, the Christian history of doctrine, Jewish-Christian interactions, and the ccultural reality of pluralism.
