Marcus Borg

Biographical Information

Marcus Borg is Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion and Culture at Oregon State University. He is a broadly published author who is perhaps best known for his books, Meeting Jesus Again For The First Time (1995), Jesus 2002 , ed, and The God We Never Knew (1997). Formerly a member of the controversial Jesus Seminar , Dr. Borg is also a popular and widely traveled lecturer. Of his own writing and lecturing, Borg says that he "seeks to recapture the story character of Scripture [which was] transmitted and experienced in a variety of ways." In the widely hailed, Meeting Jesus Again For The First Time , Borg understands that "for many Christians their childhood image of Jesus no longer makes a great deal of sense."
