John Dominic Crossan

Biographical Information

John Dominic Crossan , professor emeritus of biblical studies at Depaul University, Chicago is cofounder of the Jesus Seminar and a well-known figure to many who are interested in the search for the Jesus of history. A frequent guest on national television documentaries, Dr. Crossan is the author of more than a dozen highly acclaimed books on the historical Jesus, the most recent being Excavating Jesus: Beneath the Stones, Behind the Texts , Harper/San Francisco (2001) that he co-authored with prominent archeologist, Jonathon Reed. Dr. Crossan has also chaired the Historical Jesus section of the Society of Biblical Literature.
