Biographical Information

A.J. LevineA. J. Levine is E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies and Director, The Carpenter Center for Religion, Gender and Sexuality, The Divinity School, Vanderbilt University. Dr. Levine is a prolific writer and contributor to professional journals. She is also a popular lecturer and has presented work in a wide variety of venues. Her books include, The Social and Ethnic Dimensions of Matthean Salvation History: "Go Nowhere Among The Gentiles" , Studies in the Bible and Early Christianity; Women Like This." New Perspectives on Jewish Women in the Greco-Roman World. Early Judaism and its Literature ; with Jacob Neusner and Ernest S. Frerichs, edited, Religious Writings and Religious Systems: Systemic Analysis of Holy Books in Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Greco-Roman Religions, Ancient Israel and Judaism. She brings academic and personal knowledge of Judaism to her studies of the New Testament.
